Marketing Manager

  • Group Marketing Lead (Krystal)

  • Restaurant Management

  • Founder (Olivier Elzer), where required for approvals and major initiatives


Exclusivity: This is a full-time role. The Marketing Manager may not take on external freelance, consulting or agency work without written approval.

Work Arrangement

  • Full time, hybrid role

  • ​Minimum 3 days per week on-site at Clarence

  • On-site presence required for events, launches, media visits, photoshoots, tastings and key service periods

  • Monthly on-site schedule to be agreed between Restaurant Management, Hospitality Management and the Marketing Manager, based on business needs


Role Overview
The Marketing Manager is responsible for the execution, coordination, tracking and reporting of all marketing, communications and PR activity for Clarence.

You are accountable for:

  • Driving covers and demand

  • Supporting events and private dining

  • Building and maintaining press relationships

  • Managing all owned channels

  • Ensuring all activity is trackable, measurable and reported
     

If you do not personally have the capability to execute a specific channel to the required standard (e.g. Chinese social platforms), you are responsible for sourcing, briefing and managing appropriate external support, within company budget and with management approval.

 

Requirements

  • Must be based in Hong Kong

  • Proven experience in hospitality, F&B or lifestyle marketing

  • Strong writing and editing skills (press-ready output)

  • Comfortable working independently with approvals

  • Highly organised and detail-oriented

  • Comfortable being on-site during service and events


Core Operating Rule: Trackable CTAs & Measurable ROI​
All campaigns must direct enquiries into channels the Marketing Manager can directly monitor and report on.
Approved CTA destinations:

  • Instagram DMs

  • WhatsApp (Clarence business phone or Marketing Manager phone provided by the company)

  • Trackable booking links (SevenRooms / designated (Such as Bitly) links)


This applies to all channels, including PR, ads, Chinese platforms and email.
The purpose is to:

  • Attribute enquiries correctly

  • Understand ROI

  • Improve reporting accuracy


Channels in Scope & Responsibilities
  1.  Instagram (Primary Social Channel)

  • Own content planning, execution and posting

  • Create, maintain and submit monthly content calendar aligned to:

    • Covers

    • Menu highlights

    • Signature dishes

    • Chef stories

    • Events and collaborations

  • Capture content in-venue (kitchen, service, ambience, guests, events)

  • Manage DMs and inbound enquiries

  • Ensure bio, stories and posts direct to approved CTAs

  • Report performance monthly

 
  2.  Chinese Social Media Platforms (Management Required)
  (Including but not limited to: Xiaohongshu / WeChat / other relevant platforms)

  • Manage Clarence’s presence on Chinese social platforms

  • Ensure content, tone and positioning align with Clarence brand standards

  • If execution is outsourced:

    • Source suitable external partners

    • Present cost, scope and expected outcomes

    • Manage briefing, approvals, timelines and performance

  • Ensure all CTAs route back to trackable channels (Instagram / WhatsApp / booking links)

  • Report platform performance and ROI


  3.  Facebook

  • Maintain Clarence’s Facebook presence

  • Ensure content is updated and accurate

  • Use Facebook primarily for:

    • Events

    • Key announcements

    • Paid amplification if required

  • Ensure CTA consistency and tracking


  4.  YouTube

  • Manage Clarence’s YouTube presence (if/when active)

  • Coordinate video content where relevant (events, chef features, brand moments)

  • If editing or production is outsourced, manage external vendors

  • Ensure content supports brand visibility and longer-form storytelling


  5.  LinkedIn

  • Manage Clarence’s LinkedIn presence

  • Use LinkedIn for:

    • Brand credibility

    • Press features

    • Awards

    • Corporate and partnership visibility

  • Coordinate approvals for sensitive or founder-facing posts


  6.  WhatsApp (Key Conversion Channel)

  • Manage WhatsApp communications via Clarence business phone

  • Execute:

    • Event invitations

    • Last-minute availability pushes

    • VIP communications

  • Track:

    • Enquiries

    • Responses

    • Conversions to bookings

  • Ensure controlled frequency and relevance (no spam)


  7.  Email Marketing (SevenRooms & Eber)

  • Manage email marketing via SevenRooms and Eber

  • Execute campaigns for:

    • Events

    • Seasonal menus

    • Private dining

    • Special announcements

  • Maintain list hygiene and segmentation where possible

  • ​Work with restaurant management to grow email lists

  • Track opens, clicks and booking conversions

  • Report performance monthly


PR, Communications & Press​

  • Draft press releases, announcements and pitch emails

  • Prepare press materials for internal approval before distribution

  • Maintain and manage press lists

  • Build and nurture relationships with media, editors and writers

  • Develop a quarterly target publication list, including:

    • Prestige

    • Tatler

    • SCMP

    • Other relevant F&B, lifestyle and dining publications

  • Liaise with management where:

    • Budget is required for tastings, hosting or press dinners

    • Commercial or operational coordination is needed

  • Track press outcomes and report quarterly


Paid Media

  • Plan, execute and optimise paid campaigns (primarily Meta)

  • Define clear objectives for each campaign (covers, events, enquiries)

  • Ensure all ads route to approved CTAs

  • Track spend, cost per enquiry and campaign effectiveness

  • Report monthly with learnings and recommendations


Events & Activations

  • Support marketing execution for all events

  • Draft invitations and event communications

  • Coordinate content capture before, during and after events

  • Be present on-site during events as required

  • Ensure post-event follow-up and reporting


KPIs & Success Measures (Detailed)
Performance will be assessed against the following:
Covers & Demand

  • Weekly and monthly covers (lunch/dinner)

  • Source of bookings (Instagram, WhatsApp, email, walk-ins)

  • Enquiry-to-booking conversion rate

  • Response time to enquiries


Events

  • Attendance vs capacity

  • Event-driven enquiries and bookings

  • Cost per attendee (where applicable)


Press & Brand Visibility

  • Number of confirmed press features

  • Quality of publications (tiered)

  • Quarterly press relationship activity


Social Media

  • Engagement rate (not just followers)

  • DM enquiries and conversions

  • Performance by content type


Email & WhatsApp

  • Open and response rates

  • Enquiry volume

  • Conversion to bookings


Paid Media

  • Cost per enquiry

  • Campaign ROI

  • Budget efficiency


Reporting Requirements

  • Weekly: Activity update
